Over the 13 years that I’ve been working with Rehan Jalil, he has proven himself not only to be a competent entrepreneur, but a thought leader on the cutting edge of new technology and data security. Since I last wrote about Rehan’s most recent venture, SECURITI.ai and its revolutionary data compliance platform PRIVACI.ai in September, they have achieved several significant milestones. Primarily, they’ve grown their team to exceed 180+ employees, including several new senior management hires and the platform has grown to successfully handle over 100 million identities, putting the power over data back into the hands of consumers. Today, just five months after their launch, we’re thrilled to share that we’ve participated in SECURITI.ai’s latest $50 million Series B round.
At launch, PRIVACI.ai offered enterprises a reliable solution to compliance ahead of California’s Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Now officially in effect, enterprises that collect personal data from residents of California must comply with new regulations. Companies that fail to meet the new guidelines risk a $7,500 fine per violation, a sum that quickly adds up for businesses dealing with millions of consumers’ data.
Still, CCPA promises to be just the start of an inevitable global dialogue surrounding data regulation. Already, Brazil has announced its General Data Protection Law (LGPD) and India, a Personal Data Protection Bill. To meet demand, SECURITI.ai has expanded internationally to new regions, including South America, Canada and APAC. It’s evident that the general uptick in data security is not just a passing fad, but an indication of the future of how enterprises will interact with their customers. This growing global need for an all-in-one compliance solution is why we’re thrilled to be doubling down on our initial investment. SECURITI.ai, unlike other legacy providers, is the only company prepared to offer an effective, affordable and scalable solution to global compliance regulation.
The service Rehan and his all-star team have pioneered is needed now more than ever. To help businesses prepare, Rehan has spent the last several months conducting free PrivacyOps workshops around the U.S. These workshops emphasize the opportunity CCPA provides enterprises to be responsible custodians of their customer’s data, and the conversations Rehan had with privacy officials and executives from dozens of companies have helped form the solutions SECURITI.ai is now offering as Freemium and Self-Service Product Suites. The solutions provide data subject request (DSR) fulfillment to enable compliance in minutes at a fraction of the cost of legacy solutions, allowing companies without major technological infrastructures to maintain compliance on the same scale as their larger competitors.
Backed by his impressive team of industry experts from companies including Symantec, BlueCoat, Elastica, and Cisco, it has been a pleasure to watch Rehan bring his latest solution to the market with such strong traction over the last five months.
Guided by our dedication to people-first innovation and desire to protect privacy globally, we look forward to continuing our relationship with Rehan and his team at SECURITI.ai as they work to empower consumers and become the leading global PrivacyOps solution.
