Over a 35+ year career in Silicon Valley, Guru has founded three pioneering startups – Rhapsody Networks, StorSimple and CloudSimple – and led strategy and scaled revenues at three iconic technology leaders Brocade Communications/Broadcom, Google and Microsoft. His belief in the power of technology to transform industries, passion for building impactful teams and desire to mentor the next generation of founders drives his motivation to serve as Venture Partner at Mayfield today.

Rhapsody was a frontrunner in intelligent storage, where as founder, Guru led products and engineering. After its acquisition by Brocade Communications, Guru led their layer 4-7 business. He then co-founded StorSimple with Mayfield partner Ursheet Parikh, building the industry’s first Cloud Storage Controller. After Microsoft acquired StorSimple, as a key member of Azure’s leadership team, Guru helped develop overall strategy and shaped their hybrid storage business. Guru then founded CloudSimple, which built an enterprise infrastructure cloud based on VMWare. Subsequent to its acquisition by Google, Guru helped scale Google Cloud Storage into a multibillion-dollar powerhouse.

Guru holds a master’s degree in Computer Science from Utah State University and a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications from JNTU, Hyderabad.
