Mayfield AI Pathfinders Community: Rewriting the Enterprise Software Playbook

The software engineering playbook is being rewritten, and enterprises are adapting to a new AI-driven reality.

It was a pleasure hosting Mayfield AI Pathfinders – our quarterly gathering of AI Researchers, Founders and Chief AI officers – to parse signal from noise. We explored many of the questions enterprises are actively grappling with in this transition.

  • The AI-first enterprise playbook: Best practices, Common pitfalls, and Success metrics? Role of open source?
  • Value migration: When the marginal cost of code falls, where will value accrue? What becomes the real moat?
  • Talent evolution: Role of programmers, architects, product managers? Which skills compound in an AI-native engineering organization?
  • Research frontier: Which breakthroughs will reshape the stack? How should enterprises think about scaling laws and the continued age of research?

Grateful to everyone in the Pathfinders community for pushing the thinking forward (Henry Shi @ Anthropic , Stefano Ermon @ Inception labs, Scott Dietzen @ Augment Code and our quick-fire presenters (Spandan Madan @ @Engramme , Gunjan Sinha, Karan Bharadwaj @ Nasiko, Tript Singh Lamba @ ProductNow, Lakshya A Agrawal and Yichuan Wang @ Berkeley).
