We are excited to announce the addition of Priya Saiprasad as the eighth member of our investing team, which marks the latest milestone in our 50th anniversary year.
Priya is a rising B2B venture investor who was named to the 2019 Forbes 30 under 30 list of venture investors, based on her track record of investing in early-stage companies in the US, Canada and Australia. She is a great fit for our team as she brings a global mindset, a reputation for being an accessible and value-added board member, and a commitment to advancing support for women founders. Her superpower lies in providing founders with guidance on strategy, business and financial modeling, and modern GTM approaches. At Mayfield, she will continue to invest in the enterprise sector with initial focus on AI and analytics-driven businesses, and supplement our connections to next-generation entrepreneurs.
2019 marks our 50th anniversary year as a firm, where Lyft made for our 117th IPO, along with the 200+ companies that have been acquired. Our people-first philosophy has endured since our founding, and we believe that a team-based approach to investing makes for a winning culture.
Most recently, Priya was a founding member of M12 Ventures, preceded by experience working for Square and UBS. During her three years at M12, one of her six investments, Bonsai (deep reinforcement learning platform), was acquired by Microsoft and several others including Element AI, Go1, LoginRadius, Skedulo, and Workboard have positive momentum. While at M12, she also helped launch M12’s female founders competition as part of her mission to make access to capital easier for underserved female entrepreneurs.
Priya graduated with highest honors, Summa Cum Laude distinction from UC Berkeley, Haas School of Business. Some fun facts about Priya include that she lived in 12 countries prior to moving to the Bay Area at the age of 12, is a hip-hop dancer, and a trained yoga instructor.
Priya outlines her excitement about the next phase in her career: “I was lucky to kick off my investing career at M12 and also find great mentors who guided my first phase as an investor. Mayfield is a firm with a storied history that walks the talk of being People First. I found that their team respects independent thinking and genuinely wants to mentor the next generation. Over the last 50 years, Mayfield has partnered with 100s of gamechangers, including recent breakout teams such as the founders of Elastica, HashiCorp, Lyft, Marketo, Moat, Outreach, Poshmark, ServiceMax and SolarCity. I look forward to partnering with the team as we take Mayfield to greater heights.”
