Navin Chaddha
Navin Chaddha is responsible for the overall leadership of Mayfield Fund. He is a proven serial entrepreneur and venture investor. He was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2009 and has ranked on the Forbes Midas List of top 100 dealmakers for several years. Navin invests in the consumer, enterprise, energytech, and telecom sectors in the U.S., India and China and is the founder of Mayfield’s dedicated India Fund, which he oversees. He currently serves on the board of directors of Brighter, Gigya, Pano Logic, Poshmark, StorSimple, and WideOrbit, is a board observer of Appcelerator, Bharat Matrimony, ShineOn, SolarCity, and Tejas Networks and is also involved with Mayfield investments in Adchemy, Kiwi Crate, Pulse, and SMiT.
Navin has made over 35 investments of which 11 have had IPOs and another 9 have been acquired. Some of his notable investments include Akamai, Qwest Communications, MakeMyTrip, and Rhythms Net Connections which had successful IPOs on NASDAQ, and IL&FS Investsmart, Persistent Systems, and Suzlon which had IPOs on Indian Stock Exchanges. Other investments that have had significant exits through acquisitions include Ankeena Networks (Juniper Networks), CPower (Constellation Energy), Indya.com (News Corp), LVL7 Systems (Broadcom), Mimosa Systems (Iron Mountain Inc.), Neopath Networks (Cisco Systems), and WiChorus (Tellabs Inc.).
Prior to becoming a venture capitalist, Navin was a successful serial entrepreneur. He was founder and CTO of VXtreme which was acquired by Microsoft to become Windows Media. Navin served in various management roles at Microsoft after the acquisition. He was also co-founder of iBeam Broadcasting (NASDAQ IPO), CEO and founder of Rivio (acquired by CPA2Biz), and Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Mobius Venture Capital.
Navin holds an MS degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University (received Stanford and IBM Graduate Fellowships) and a B.Tech degree in electrical engineering from IIT Delhi (received the Director’s Medal for being first in his class) and was honored with the prestigious distinguished IIT Alumni Award in 2006. He holds 35 patents and serves on the advisory board of Stanford Engineering Venture Fund.
